Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia | 1967-10-03

Suman C. Tharan has always been interested in performing arts from a very young age. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 3rd, 1967, his first appearance on television was in Singapore when he was 10. He went on to do a couple of stage roles, The Artful Dodger in Lionel Bart's "Oliver" (1984) and Malcolm in Tom Stoppard's "Cahoot's Macbeth" (1985). Suman also was commissioned by Education Radio Malaysia to do a series of programs in 1987. Upon returning from England after studying Law and working extensively, front of house in London's West End on Les Misérables, Aspects of Love, and Cats, he moved to the bustling Bangkok. There, he acted in Mark O'Donnell's "Marred Bliss" (2003) as Dink, the dimwit Kretinus in Miles Tredinnic's stage version of "Up Pompei" (2016, Yvan in Yasmina Reza's "Art"(2016) and the resplendent "The Genie of the Lamp" in the pantomime "Aladdin" (2016)! In 2004, he directed Christopher Durang's "Hardy Boys and the Mystery of Where Babies Come From" (2004)and just recently "A Gay Thing" (2017) by Joshua James. Out of sheer luck, he was cast as a featured extra in Dennis Gansel's "The Mechanic Resurrection"(2016) with Jason Statham and has a small featured extra role with Blake Lively and Yvonne Strahovski in "All I See Is You" (2016) and a Swedish movie "Hundraettåringen som smet från notan och försvann" (2016). This brought Suman a variety of roles in smaller independent films, a six-episode arc on Thailand Channel 9 "Turakit ASEAN" and television commercials. He now hopes to break into Bollywood movies and try his hand at stand-up comedy, all the while, without leaving his home away from home, Bangkok, Thailand.
