Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, previously known as The First Edition until 1970, emerged as an American rock band in 1967. The group's musical style blended country, rock, and psychedelic pop. The core members included Kenny Rogers on lead vocals and bass guitar, Mickey Jones on drums and percussion, and Terry Williams on guitar and vocals. Folk musician Mike Settle contributed with guitar and backing vocals, alongside Thelma Camacho, known for her operatic training, as the lead vocalist, completing the lineup.
